Scotland Stuns Norway in European Championship Qualifiers

Scotland defeated Norway 2-1 in the men’s European Championship qualifiers. The match took place in Oslo, and Scotland’s victory was a surprise to many. Erling Haaland gave Norway the lead from a penalty kick in the 61st minute, but Scotland scored two goals in two minutes after Haaland was substituted. Lyndon Dykes scored the first goal for Scotland, and Kenny McLean scored the second. The defeat dealt a heavy blow to Norway’s chances of qualifying from Group A after the team stumbled with one point from its first two games when Haaland was injured in March. Scotland, on the other hand, kept their perfect record in qualifying for next year’s European Championship.

Scotland qualified for the previous European Championship, Euro 2020, by beating Serbia 5-4 on penalties. This was the first time Scotland had qualified for a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup. In the qualifying process, Scotland played ten matches, winning five, drawing two, and losing three. They scored 16 goals and conceded seven. Scotland finished third in their group, but they qualified through the play-offs.
