Metallica Sets New Stadium Attendance Record at SoFi Stadium
Heavy metal legends Metallica have set a new stadium attendance record at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The band’s four-night run at the venue, which concluded on August 28, drew a total of 420,000 fans, surpassing the previous record of 397,000 set by Taylor Swift in 2020.
The record-breaking run was part of Metallica’s “WorldWired” tour, which kicked off in 2016 and is currently ongoing. The tour has seen the band play to over 16 million fans around the world.
In a statement, Metallica said they were “humbled and honored” to set the new attendance record. “We’re so grateful to our fans for their support over the years,” the band said. “This record is a testament to their loyalty and dedication.”
SoFi Stadium is a 70,240-seat stadium that opened in 2020. It is home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). The stadium has also hosted a number of other major events, including the Super Bowl and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Metallica’s record-breaking run at SoFi Stadium is a testament to the band’s enduring popularity. The band has been together for over 40 years and has released 10 studio albums, all of which have been certified platinum or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Metallica is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 120 million albums sold worldwide.
The band’s next stop on the “WorldWired” tour is in Mexico City on September 1. They will then head to Europe for a series of shows in October and November.
