Invitation to Tender: Establishing Five CIIT Development Hubs
The Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) has published calls for international public tenders to obtain a 2-year contract for the development of five CIIT development hubs. The main objectives of the CIIT development hubs are to foster economic development in Mexico’s Southeast by taking advantage of the nearshoring phenomenon. The hubs will be areas with a concentration of assets, capital, research and development, labor market, and infrastructure that is “strongly” .
The development hubs aim to create a community of residents, parents, and community members who come together to explore new ideas, build creative solutions, and develop relationships. Additionally, the CIIT development hubs aim to strengthen and empower the psycho-socio-emotional domain/aspect of today’s CIITzens enabling them to become industry-ready and resilient.

Additionally, the Commerce Department’s Tech Hubs initiative, which is similar to the CIIT development hubs, aims to create a network of technology hubs across the United States. The Senate has also approved a new $10 billion program for regional technology hubs in the United States. Overall, the CIIT development hubs seem to be focused on promoting economic development and innovation in the regions where they are located.
