Open VLD Proposes Extending Flexi-Jobs to All Sectors for Long-Term Expansion

Open VLD, a political party in Belgium, wants to expand flexi-jobs beyond the hospitality sector. Flexi-jobs are a type of employment in Belgium that allows individuals to earn extra income without paying additional taxes. The party’s proposal would allow flexi-jobs to be available in all sectors in the long term.

Flexi-jobs were introduced in Belgium in 2015 and were initially only available in the hospitality sector. The program has been successful, and Open VLD believes that expanding it to other sectors would benefit both employers and employees.

It is worth noting that flexi-jobs are unique to Belgium and are not available in other countries. However, other countries have similar programs that allow individuals to work part-time or on a flexible schedule.

In February 2021, the New Zealand government announced an expansion of its Flexi-wage program to support thousands more job seekers into employment. The Flexi-wage program helps job seekers get a job and the skills needed to do that job, and support can include training and in-work support, as well as a contribution to wages. The program is designed to be flexible and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals.
