ECB Initiates Survey to Explore Features for New Euro Banknotes
The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched a public survey on the proposed themes for the next series of euro banknotes. The survey is open to everyone in the euro area from July 10 until August 31, 2023, and can be accessed on the ECB’s website. The ECB is asking for feedback on the shortlisted themes for the new banknotes, and the survey results will be used to select the theme for the next banknote generation by 2024 . The proposed themes include rivers, birds, and other designs. The ECB’s Governing Council is expected to make a final decision on the theme for the new banknotes in 2024. The design of banknotes is a sensitive issue in the 20-nation euro zone, and the ECB is seeking to involve the public in the decision-making process.
