Georges Bereta, a legendary football player, died on July 4, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born on May 15, 1946, in Saint-Étienne, France. Bereta was a French former football striker of Polish descent. He played for Saint-Étienne from 1966 to 1974 and Marseille from 1975 to 1978. He had a successful career, winning multiple titles with Saint-Étienne, including six Division 1 titles and three Coupe de France titles. Bereta also represented the France national team from 1967 to 1975, earning 44 caps and scoring 4 goals.

He was known for his contributions as the captain of both Saint-Étienne and the France team during the 1960s and 1970s.
