Richard Carapaz Withdraws from the Tour de France

Richard Carapaz, a contender for the overall podium, has left the Tour de France due to a crash on the opening day of the race. He was found separated from his bike on the side of the road on a descent late in the opening stage in Bilbao, Spain. An ultrasound revealed a small fracture in his left kneecap, which prevented him from participating in stage 2 of the race.
