Vivek Ramaswamy: I Understand Israel More Than My Opponents Because I Traveled There
Vivek Ramaswamy, the author of the book “Woke Inc.: The Corporate Capture of Critical Theory,” has claimed that he understands more about Israel than his opponents because he has traveled there.
Ramaswamy, who is running for Congress in California’s 4th congressional district, made the claim in an interview with the Jewish Journal. He said that he has visited Israel “multiple times” and that he has “spent time with Israelis from all walks of life.”
“I think it’s important to have a ground-level understanding of what’s happening in Israel,” Ramaswamy said. “I think it’s easy to sit in Washington, D.C., and talk about Israel, but it’s a different thing to actually go there and see it for yourself.”
Ramaswamy’s opponents have criticized his claim, saying that he is trying to use his travel to Israel to gain political points. They have also pointed out that Ramaswamy has made a number of controversial statements about Israel in the past.
In 2019, Ramaswamy wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal in which he argued that Israel is an “apartheid state.” He has also said that he supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.
Ramaswamy’s claim that he understands more about Israel than his opponents because he has traveled there is a matter of opinion. However, his opponents have raised valid concerns about his past statements about Israel. It is up to voters to decide whether they believe that Ramaswamy’s travel to Israel gives him a better understanding of the country than his opponents.
